It’s safe to say after a year of using 3D printers regularly, I have slightly fallen in love with them. I mean who wouldn’t? you visual an idea in your head, draw it in paper then using complicated 3D modelling software you bring that badboy to life but wait (this is where the penny really drops!), you can 3D print it and bang it’s there from a 3D model to actual real life model in your hand.
So with a little harassing of my mother, who gave me the money to buy one for myself and thanks to all you product design companies out there for hiring me straight out of uni, its fine i don’t need the money!
I did not buy fancy little makerbot or anything remotely expensive, instead it was cute printer called CTC which is in fact a makerbot clone for reasonable Β£260 from eBay. Setting up the printer was fairly straight forward but installing the software was a little harder as the instructions come in Chinese!! I install the makerbot desktop from makerbot themselves and run couple of test prints.
